Covid Race Protocols

The races will go forward in a virtual race format if in-person races are cancelled or restricted for any reason. 

If a race must be cancelled, all runners will automatically be moved into the “from a distance” event.   See “RUN SLC from a distance (aka virtual race)” below for details.  Even if the events are held in person, you can choose this option if you prefer.  You will be able to transfer your event from “in person” to “from a distance” in your athlete profile in RunSignup any time before the in-person race.

Do not attend the in-person race or packet pick up if you have any Covid-19 symptoms or risk factors.

Please see the picture below and stay home if needed.   You can run your race and earn your medal from a distance when you are well and safe.

Email race@slrc.com before race weekend if you plan to submit your personal race result outside of the published time window.

The race plan below implements the best practices to keep risk of Covid transmission very low.

Do not attend the in person race if you cannot or will not follow the guidance below.  Violation of the mask requirement may risk having the event closed down by authorities.

 

Packet Pick Up

Friday 10a-7p (day before the race) at SLRC (2454 S 700 E  SLC, UT 84106)

In person racers must pick up a bib with a timing chip the day before each race at SLRC in SLC.

You must wear a mask to packet pick up.

Please sanitize hands before approaching the table.

Bibs can be collected for family members.

Bibs are not necessary to submit a time for those who are participating from a distance. But, those folks can come to packet pick up and collect their race items.

 

Pre-race

Arrive shortly before your assigned start time.

Do not congregate before the race.

Please use the restroom at home and wash your hands before leaving the house.

You must wear a face covering and remain 6-10 feet from others outside your household at all times as you warm up and await your start.

 

No Mass Start

Each runner will start a minimum of 10 seconds apart to create distance on the route .

Leave 10 feet of space while waiting for your turn.

A starting official will tell you when to go.

Families and housemates may start together.

 

On Course

Run on the right.  Pass on the left.

Do not follow close behind others.

Be courteous.

 

Contactless Aid Stations

CARRY YOUR OWN CUP OR HYDRATION PACK.  Volunteers will not be handing out disposable cups for water

Aid station volunteers will be in mask and gloves and sanitizing common surfaces.

Carry your own gel or fuel if you need it.

 

Post Race

Results will not be available onsite. Check www.runslcseries.com/results after 2pm on race day.

Age group award ceremony will be on social media on Monday evening following the race.

Raffle prize winners will be announced on a poster board at the event and on Social Media on Monday evening following the race.

with redemption instructions for any prizes.

 

RUN SLC from a distance (aka virtual race)

You can run your race on a course of your choice away from the group as a virtual runner

Virtual race participants will receive an extra value in their swag package in the form of Virtual Runner Certificates that can be spent in SLRC locations.  The value will be $1/kilometer or $5 for the 5k, $10 for the 10k, $15 for the 15k.  Runners can combine their own certificates.

Track your run time and stats with a watch or device. Submit your results for all to see.

Please run your race on race weekend so all RUN SLC participants stay on the same training schedule.

Results can include time, distance, elevation gain and photos for your friends and competitors to see.

As each course and conditions will be different, virtual racers will not be eligible for age group awards.
